Born on the
East Coast and as far away from the "Old West" as you can get,
Marti Nelson has always had a love of horses, even as a child. Her first
and only request to Santa was....a Pony.
As her talent for drawing developed she drew horses to bring her closer
to the reality that SOMEDAY she would own one.
That "someday" finally came later in life and
after rasing two
Wonderful sons....Santa FINALLY delivered!
She has had several horses since that "first"
Paint mare.She stays
active in "horse related' events. She learned and now has, a passion
for
Team Roping. Her horses always become "models" for her compositions.
She is basically a "self" taught artist.
Having put her Art aside for many years, she is now vigorously
persueing it as a career.
This Award winning artists' drawings reside in many private collectors
homes through out the U.S. and Canada. She has been accepted and shown
her works in many prestigious Art Shows across the western States.
She has also had works published. First at the age of
8, in the
"Western Horseman" magazine. And most recently she was honored
to be the Cover
Artist for the U.S.T.R.C (United States Team Roping Championships)
magazine "SuperLooper".
She draws primarily in Graphite Pencil. She loves the
realism and
detail that can be achieved with this medium. The richness of the grey
tones
help to enhance the subject matter she chooses to draw.
She Loves the "Cowboy" Way and has several "Western"
works in
progress. She has begun several "Series " of works of which more
drawings will be
added. Look for the second in the series of "Foal", "Team
Roping" and
"Buckaroo". Due to popular request, she has added several "Mule"
drawings to her Gallery. She will be introducing Notecards of many of
her
drawings soon.
She now lives in Arizona. She enjoys Commission work
and has had
many "repeat" customers.
